Bio

Sun Furong is a self-taught artist, who was encouraged to develop her interest in folk art traditions such as the revival of papercutting by influential critics and curators including Li Xianting and the feminist curator and scholar Liao Wen. She also worked as a seamstress, which developed into the practice of several exhibited installations, including that in the White Rabbit Collection, in which she constructed and deconstructed articles of clothing, cutting, snipping and slashing them with her dressmaker’s scissors.
