Born 1969, Hong Kong. Lives and works in Taipei, Taiwan

Dodo Mo, or Dodo Bird, is the pseudonym of Wu Yun-Feng. She incorporates embroidery in most of her works, which focus on feminist themes, particularly the experience of aging and the tension between traditional roles and personal aspirations. Golden Potato (2010) and Diving (2011) are part of a series of works that explore and define her quirky personal mythology. She imagines herself as a kind of “Lady Bond”, the beautiful spy played by Connie Chan in a series of 1960s Hong Kong thrillers. Dressed in the skin-tight black costume of a ninja, she pursues other ninjas around the sprouts of a germinating potato and a children’s wading pool—weird battlegrounds that the artist covers with intricate nets of embroidery.
