Time for Tea

theTeahouse

Whether you’re visiting White Rabbit’s collection, meeting a friend or just in need of a break, the gallery’s tranquil street-level Tea House is a delightful place to relax, chat, or simply read the paper as you sip.

Our Uyghur tea expert Yusuf serves a huge range of Chinese-grown teas, including flower teas that blossom in hot water; oolong teas, whose partly oxidised leaves are curled or pressed into small balls; and silver-needle tea, a superb white tea that gets its name from the paleness of its downy leaves and the long spindles they form when dried.

If you’re not sure which tea will suit your taste or mood, Yusuf and his cheerful assistants will advise you.

Most Chinese teas can be infused several times, and many taste best on the second or third steeping. We’ll keep topping up your pot at no extra charge until you’ve had your blissful fill.

To bring out the taste of your tea, you might also like to try one of our sweet or savory snack plates, which include biscuits baked fresh each day in our kitchen.

Relax and enjoy!

Opening hours: During Gallery hours.
