Time for Tea

theTeahouse

Whether you’re visiting White Rabbit’s collection, meeting a friend or just in need of a break, the gallery’s tranquil street-level Tea House is a delightful place to relax, chat, or simply read the paper as you sip.

Our Uyghur tea expert Yusuf serves a wide range of the finest Chinese-grown teas, including oolongs, whose partly oxidised leaves are curled or pressed into small balls; white teas, named for the pale down on their leaves; chrysanthemum and other flower teas, which blossom in the pot; and to help you stay cool in summer, lychee or green iced tea.

If you’re not sure which tea will suit your taste or mood, Yusuf and his cheerful assistants will advise you.

Most Chinese teas can be infused several times, and many taste best on the second or third steeping. We’ll keep topping up your pot at no extra charge until you’ve had your blissful fill.

You might also like to try a plate of freshly handmade dumplings (available from noon to 4 p.m.), or a sweet or savory snack plate with homemade biscuits baked daily in our kitchen. If tea is not your cup of tea, we have wine, beer and pressed juices.

You can read and print our menu here.

Opening hours: During Gallery hours.
